Seaside Bingo Half Square Triangle Blocks

These are the directions to make one 6” block.  These blocks are very versatile and can be arranged in many different layouts.  You can make your own quilt or bring them to the next meeting for Community Service.

Materials

6 dark 2 ½” squares left over from Seaside Bingo.

6 light 2 ½”           squares

Block Assembly

  1. Place a dark and light square right side together.  Draw a diagonal line on the light square.  Sew the squares together on the diagonal line. This will make one 2 ½” half square triangle.  Trim by leaving a ¼” seam.  Make two half square triangles for each block.
  2. Lay out the block in 3 rows.
    1. Row 1 – half square triangle (dark section to the top), 2 dark squares
    2. Row 2 – 1 light square, 2 dark squares
    3. Row 3 -  2 light squares, 1 half square triangle (dark section to the top)
  1. Sew each row together.  Join the rows to each other in the order listed.
