Seaside Piecemakers Timeless Treasures 2010
Quilt Show Entry Requirements
- This is a Members Only show. At least one quilt maker must be a member, and only members are eligible for awards.
- Ribbons - First, Second, and Third place ribbons may be awarded in each category except in Display Only. Honorable Mention ribbons may be awarded at the discretion of the judge.
- Special Awards: Best of Show, Best Hand Quilting, Best Computer Assisted Machine Quilting, Best Manual Driven Machine Quilting, Judge’s Choice, and Viewer’s Choice
- All entries, except those in the other and Wearable Art categories, must be comprised of three layers and must be quilted, not tied.
- Entries must have been made after January 1, 2004 and may not have been entered in a previous Seaside Piecemakers show.
- All entries must be display ready, clean, free of odors, stains, pet hairs, etc.
- Sleeve - All quilts wider than 30” must have a 4” wide sleeve (made from a 9 inch strip of fabric folded lengthwise) at the top on the back of the quilt. Both the top and bottom of the sleeve must be stitched to the quilt. On long quilts, the top edge of the sleeve must be no more than 90” from the bottom of the quilt.
- Label - Each quilt must have a fabric identification label on the back with the owner’s full name and the quilt name, preferably sewn in the lower back left hand corner. Any reference to the quilt maker on the front of the quilt must be covered with hand-basted fabric. Each wearable must have a similar label sewn inside.
- Registration Form - One form per entry must be completed by the maker. A 4” x 6” color photograph must accompany each form. The item in the photo does not have to be completed, but must be recognizable by color and pattern. Photographs will not be returned.
- Storage - While quilts are stored and transported, they will be handled with great care, but we cannot be responsible for any special treatment or particular method of storage.
- Exclusions - Not accepted: preprinted panel quilts, framed or mounted quilts, purses, tied or unquilted quilts (see exception in rule 4), dolls, home decor items (table runners, place mats, tree skirts, pillows), and no entry can exceed 116 inches in width.
- All entries should be numbered in order of preference. If more quilts are entered than there is room to display, the quilts of lowest preference may be eliminated from the show.
- If a member wishes to inform the public that her item is for sale, she may attach a business-sized card to the item after the quilt is hung. SSPM will take no other part in the sale.
